Liverpool complete €35m move for Genk goalkeeper Lukki Brugmans

Liverpool have agreed a deal with Genk for 18-year-old Belgian goalkeeper Lukki Brugmans, with the transfer worth 35m euros including bonuses.

Brugmans has signed a contract with the English club that runs until 2032, securing a long-term agreement before he officially joins Liverpool.

The goalkeeper will remain at Genk on loan throughout the 2026-27 season and is expected to move to his new club next summer. The arrangement means Brugmans will continue his development in Belgium before linking up with Liverpool.

At two metres tall, Brugmans has played in all four of Genk’s matches this season. He has conceded eight goals across those games and has kept one clean sheet.

Despite his age, Brugmans has already established himself as Genk’s goalkeeper at the beginning of the campaign. His appearances in every match underline the role he is currently occupying for the Belgian club, although his immediate future has now been agreed with Liverpool.

The transfer fee is set at 35m euros when potential bonuses are included. Liverpool have committed Brugmans to a deal lasting six years beyond the point at which he joins the club, with the contract running through to 2032.

Brugmans has also represented Belgium at every youth level. His international career has therefore included the full pathway through Belgium’s age-group national teams.

For now, the teenager will finish the 2026-27 campaign with Genk under the loan arrangement agreed as part of the transfer. His move to Liverpool will take place next summer.
