Leon Balogun sees red as Rangers lose to Celtic

Nigeria Super Eagles defender, Leon Balogun's match day action in the Scottish Premiership didn't go well as he was sent off in Rangers' lost to Celtic on Saturday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Balogun's Rangers fell 2-1 at the Park head in the Old Firm derby clash in the Scottish Professional Football League match day 21 fixture.

The host were in front in the 25th minute after Paulo Bernardo's half volley from Palma'a corner rested well at the back of the net.

The first half ended 1-0 with Celtic in the driving seat ahead of the second 45 and the Hoops wasted no time to get the second in the second half.

Japanese striker, Kyogo scoring a stunner 2 minutes into the half after collecting the ball 20 yards from goal and unleashed an unstoppable left-foot shot into the top corner of Buckland’s net.

It became tougher for Rangers as they needed to level the 2-goal margin. However, things turned for the worse as the Gers were reduced to 10 men.

Nigeria international Leon Balogun was  sent off after pulling down Daizen Maeda as he was through on goal in the 71st minute.

James Tavernier scored with a free-kick on the edge of the area to give the visitors a hope of some sort, but Celtic held firm in the 11 added minutes to win the tie and go 8 points ahead of second place Rangers after playing 2 matches more than Rangers.
