Celtic manager Neil Lennon picked out Leigh Griffiths for special praise after watching his side ease to a 6-1 victory against the Austrian team SC Pinkafeld.

Mikey Johnston scored twice while Ewan Henderson, Armstrong Oko-Flex, Griffiths and Jack Aitchison were also on target as Celtic began their pre-season campaign in style.

It was an important workout for the Bhoys as they play the first leg of their Champions League first qualifying round tie in Sarajevo on 9th July.

"I'm very pleased, considering it's the first game, and to win 6-1 is great," said Lennon after the match. "We didn't pick up any injuries and everyone had 45 minutes, so I'm very, very pleased.

"There's a bit of rust there, which is obvious, but we played well. We had a couple of chances to take the lead in the first half and our final ball was a little bit rusty. When we conceded a goal, our response was really good though and then in the second half the young lads played outstandingly well.

"Leigh [Griffiths] was good. He gets a goal from two yards, and I love those goals. He's one player that can get those types of goals. He should be delighted with himself."

Lennon has yet to sign any new players this summer but remains keen to snap up Christopher Jullien and David Turnbull.

Celtic are 15/8 to win the Scotland Premier League and League Cup in 2019/20.
