Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo was bestowed an honour on his return to Granada CF of Spain with his Saudi Arabia club, Al-Wehda, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

On what was a special night for Granada CF at the Trofeo Ciudad de Granada 40th edition, Granada CF welcomed Al-Wehda from Saudi Arabia, whose have Granada legend in their ranks, Odion Ighalo.

The Nigerian footballer was applauded from the first moment he stepped onto the pitch at Nuevo Los Cármenes. One of the most emotional moments was experienced on the pitch, in the run-up to the match, when the Director of the Sports City, Lucas Alcaraz, presented Ighalo with a commemorative shirt.

The Granadan is also the last coach to manage the striker during his time with the red and white team, with whom he coincided for a season and a half.

Odion Ighalo played for Granada CF from 2009 to 2014, playing 132 games in the process, scoring 37 goals, the most memorable one being the one that gave the club promotion to the First Division on 18 June 2011 at the Martínez Valero in Elche.

Ighalo scored Al-Wehda's goal in the game with Granada which ended 1-1 after regulation time. Granada won the penalty shootout 5-4.

Ighalo joined Al-Wehda in 2023 from Al-Hilal. He scored 15 goals for them in 31 appearances last season.
