Super Eagles midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru could be on his way out of Lazio in the upcoming January transfer window, Nigeriasoccernet.com can report.

Italian publication Corriere dello Sport revealed that the Serie A side is planning to offload as many as five players to create room for new signings in the mid-season market.

The players reportedly earmarked for potential exits include Christos Mandas, Nuno Tavares, Belahyane, Dele-Bashiru, and Noslin, all of whom have uncertain futures under head coach Maurizio Sarri.

Mixed Fortunes at Lazio

While Belahyane, a winter signing, has failed to establish himself in the team and has not featured in the last four matches despite Lazio’s injury concerns in midfield, Dele-Bashiru’s case presents a different story.

The Nigerian midfielder began the season strongly, starting the club’s first four Serie A games before sustaining an injury during the Rome Derby, which sidelined him for several weeks. Although his performances before the injury were described as inconsistent, he had shown signs of improvement under coach Marco Baroni, recording 29 appearances and five goals last season.

Focus on Recovery and AFCON Ambitions

Now back in light training, Dele-Bashiru is prioritizing a full recovery and hopes to regain his fitness in time for a possible Super Eagles call-up ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Should Lazio decide to part ways with him in January, several clubs, both in Italy and abroad, are expected to monitor his situation closely, given his potential and versatility in midfield.

The January transfer window could therefore prove pivotal for Dele-Bashiru’s career as he looks to re-establish himself both at club and international level.
