Kotoko management yet to be officially notified of Osei Kuffour's appointment as club's new boss
Asante Kotoko’s current management insist they are officially unaware of the appointment of Samuel Osei Kuffour as the new Executive Chairman of the club.
Fast circulating reports especially on social media on Saturday claim that Kotoko owner Otumfuo Osei Tutu II after several weeks of speculation has finally confirmed the ex Ghana defender as the Executive Chairman of the club.
Per the reports, Kuffour has been given the free hand to form his own board and management.
But the existing leadership of the club say they have not been officially notified of this appointment.
“Well, management and the board have not been officially informed of this,” the club’s Public Relations Officer Kwaku Ahenkorah told GHANAsoccernet.com.
“We are also hearing reports as you are so I am not able to confirm or otherwise.
“I guess we have to wait until some form of official communication is made to this effect.”
Reports of the imminent administrative changes at Kotoko have dominated the sporting news since the end of the Premier League.
The Kumasi-based giants finished the season trophyless after losing both the Premier League and FA Cup titles they won last term to AshantiGold and Medeama respectively.
The club is currently in the process of taking stock of the just ended season to prepare themselves to first secure transfer targets before the team resumes training later this month.
This change however, if confirmed, is likely to affect the club’s plans ahead of next season with rumours already rife of an appointment of an expatriate coach.
