Iwobi Relishes Modeling World Cup Shirt
Arsenal attacker, Alex Iwobi says he felt highly honoured on Wednesday being among those who modeled the Super Eagles’ new jersey for the World Cup in Russia, and believes it would be a golden opportunity for him don the shirt at the competition itself.
Iwobi further said it is always an honour for him to wear the Eagles’ jersey, but added that to compete at the Mundial this summer is not just our dream for him, but also a dream for all Nigerians and the country’s soccer fans.
Iwobi as well as Leicester City duo of midfielder, Wilfred OnyinyenNdidi and striker, Kelechi Iheanacho were among the stars who donned the Eagles’ new kit as models on Wednesday, after which both said they were impressed.
Iwobi, who scored the only goal of the game against Zambia in October as Nigeria became the first African nation to book their place in Russia, went on to take some action shots in the new jersey, with a ball at his feet.
“When I scored that goal, the players were dancing, the fans were playing trumpets and bringing drums… there was just so much passion and energy.
“It is always an honour to wear the white and green. I grew up in England, but Nigeria is my homeland.
“To compete this summer is not just our dream, it is also the dream of our fans. Together, we all represent Naija,” Iwobi retorted.
