“It’s the greatest honor” - Rinsola Babajide euphoria over maiden WAFCON invitation
One of the eleven debutants who are set to feature in the upcoming Women African Cup of Nations in Morocco for Super Falcons, Rinsola Babajide is over the moon following her inclusion in the squad announcement for the highly anticipated showpiece, Nigeriasoccernet.com writes.
Justine Madugu picked captain Rasheedat Ajibade, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie and forwards Francisca Ordega and Asisat Oshoala among a list of 24 players for the Super Falcons’ quest for a 10th continental title at the 13th Women Africa Cup of Nations finals to be staged 5th – 26th July in Morocco.
Reacting to the news of her selection, the Tenerife forward shared her excitement with her fans on her social media platform with the post that read;
“GUYSSSS, I’M GOING TO MY FIRST SENIOR MAJOR TOURNAMENT!!! IT’S THE GREATEST HONOUR KNOWING I’LL BE REPRESENTING MY COUNTRY AT THE AFRICAN CUP OF NATIONS !! THANK YOU FOR ALL THE LOVE & SUPPORT UP UNTIL THIS POINT! GOD DID”, accompanied by emojis.
This is her first international tournament with the National team as she will be hoping to make her mark.
Meanwhile, Nigeria Football Federation has sealed friendly matches for the team with the senior women national teams of Portugal and Ghana, to put them in a competitive mood ahead of their group B encounters against Tunisia, Botswana and Algeria at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca.
The Falcons will then go up against their Portuguese counterparts in Lisbon on Monday, 23rd June, and will then take on the Black Queens of Ghana in Morocco on Sunday, 29th June.
