The Nigerian on Monday talked about his future with sports newswire Het Laatste Nieuws, as he remained hopeful of a move away from the Cegeka Arena.

“I do not know whether Feyenoord is still an option. You will have to ask them. Cremonese is not a big club? But Serie A is a top competition and I dream of that. It all remains to be seen.”

On Tuesday, Italian and Transfer Football expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Dessers could leave.

He posted on Twitter, "Former Feyenoord striker Cyriel Dessers is set to leave Genk in order to join Serie A side Cremonese. Talks are progressing well since last week and the deal could be sealed soon.

"Dessers was in Italy with his agents days ago and he's tempted by Serie A chance."

The Nigerian opened his goals account for the new Belgian top-flight season which was not enough, as Genk lost 3-2 to champions Club Brugge last Sunday.

OptaJohan, a Dutch football stat handle on Twitter did describe Dessers as a performer.

Dessers who made his first Jupiler Pro League start for KRC Genk since 30 July 2021, was directly involved in a goal in each of his last four starts in the Belgian top-flight (3 goals, 1 assist).
