The latest update from Gianluca Di Marzio during Calciomercato L’Originale on Sky (via MilanNews) Thursday night stated that the Milan are still seeking an agreement with Midtjylland for the purchase of Onyedika.

However, things are currently at a stand still because the Danish club are searching for a new head coach and therefore require the approval from their new coach before they agree to selling the Nigerian midfielder.

Interviewed by Eurosport, the Svend Graversen said the club’s plan is to keep Onyedika for another season.

“We understand the great interest in him, but we really want to keep him for another year,” he said (via Francesco Nasato).

It could of course be a method of brinkmanship to try and get a better offer in the next few days for the 21-year-old defensive midfielder who scored three goals and made two assists in 43 appearances for FC Midtjylland in his first full season and claimed the Young Player of the Year Award in the Danish Superliga.
