Ghana midfielder Isaac Cofie believes the sacking of Eugenio Corini hurt his first team chances on his second loan stint at Chievo.

The 23-year-old managed 17 appearances in Serie-A in the current campaign which ends this weekend – 10 less than his impressive 2012/13 season when he first joined Chievo on loan.

Cofie reverted to Genoa the season after but returned to Chievo at the start of the season in the hope of playing more games.

But coach Eugenio Corini was sacked seven matched into the season – a move which had dire consequences for the Ghanaian.

Cofie admits that the major managerial change affected his first team opportunities at Chievo.

“It has been a good season, because the objective of the club was to stay in the league, and that was achieved five games before the end of the season,” Cofie told Goal.

“I admit that my first time at Chievo was better, but this term I could say it was a good season.

“I didn’t play continuously like I did the first time, perhaps, it could be due to the change of the coach after the first seven matches.”

Cofie will return to Genoa after the expiration of his loan stint at Chievo at the end of the season this weekend.
