Ogbu Targets Czech League Glory With Slavia Prague After Injury Return
Super Eagles defender Igoh Ogbu has expressed his determination to help Slavia Prague secure the Czech league title this season following his return from injury, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The Nigerian centre-back recently rejoined the squad after a spell on the sidelines and shared his ambition in an interview with Footy Africa, stating that he is eager to contribute to the team’s success as the title race intensifies.
Slavia Prague currently sits at the top of the Czech league standings with 58 points, maintaining a seven-point advantage over closest rivals Sparta Prague, who have accumulated 51 points after 24 matches this season.
Speaking about his comeback, Ogbu admitted that injuries are an unfortunate part of football but expressed delight at returning to action with his teammates.
“Sometimes when it comes to injuries, it is something you cannot stop. You can only focus on prevention, but for me, I am happy to be back,” the defender said.
“Injury is not a place any player wants to be. For me, it is a thing of joy to rejoin the team, to be playing football again with the boys, and to feel the moment of football again.”
The former Nigerian youth international also praised his teammates for maintaining strong form during his absence and pledged to play his part in the club’s pursuit of silverware.
“It makes me happy to come back to the team. They have been doing very well while I was away, and I am proud of them. Joining them again is good, and now I have to work hard to help the team win things together.
“Coming back, I want to do my best, help the team in every way I can, continue to grow, and deliver for our fans so that at the end of the day, we lift the trophy. That is what I stand for,” he concluded.
