Leeds thrash Newcastle to move third in Premier League
Leeds produced a dominant display to beat Newcastle 4-1 in the Premier League on Monday and move up to third in the table.
The home side controlled the first half and took the lead after 32 minutes through Lewis Miley. Leeds doubled their advantage soon afterwards, with Jayden Bogle finding the target with a well-placed finish.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin then added a third before the interval to put Leeds firmly in control.
Leeds continued to attack after the break and extended their lead in the 59th minute. Noah Okafor completed the home side’s fourth goal of the evening.
Newcastle managed to pull one goal back late on, with Bazoumana Toure finding the net, but the visitors could not launch a comeback.
The victory takes Leeds to eight points and third place in the Premier League. Newcastle remain 12th with five points.
