Awawu Bashiru scored twice in the second half and was named Player of the Match as Nigeria’s Flamingos beat Brazil 3-1 to reach the final of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.

The Nigeria U-17 Women’s National Team forward was a constant threat throughout the semi-final, troubling Brazil’s defence with her movement, pace and sharp decision-making.

Bashiru played a central role in Nigeria’s attacking play, repeatedly finding space and helping the Flamingos maintain pressure on their opponents. Her performance was eventually rewarded when she scored Nigeria’s second goal in the 71st minute to break the deadlock.

She struck again nine minutes later to complete her brace and put the result beyond Brazil’s reach. Bashiru kept her composure to finish a precise pass from team-mate Oluebube Umejiaku in the 80th minute.

The victory confirms Nigeria’s place in the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup final, securing the Flamingos a first-ever appearance in the competition’s showpiece match.

Bashiru’s display capped a dominant individual contribution in a landmark result for Nigeria, who continue their impressive campaign on Moroccan soil.
