Hearts of Oak deserve massive respect- striker Paul Acquah
Hearts of Oak forward Paul Acquah is demanding more respect for the side following their impressive 2-1 win over AC Djoliba in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The Phobians stunned their hosts with the win on Saturday despite being a man down.
Goals from the inform Gilbert Fiamenyo and Paul Acquah were enough to hand the traveling Herbert Addo’s team the win in Bamako.
Herbert Addo’s side have been heavily criticized this term for their inconsistent performances especially in the domestic league where they have struggled the most.
Many believe the current side are not special enough to be compared to the past great sides the club has produced.
Acquah who scored the second now believes the Phobians have earned the respect of even their doubters as they look favourites to progress.
“We are happy to have proved our doubter wrong,” he said.
“Not many had hope in us for this game but we have been able to prove them wrong.”
Hearts are hoping to emulate the feat achieved in 2004 when they won the maiden edition of the Confederation Cup after beating rivals Asante Kotoko on penalties.
