Al Ain striker Asamoah Gyan admits the team is heading towards a difficult period of the season as they open their Asian Champions League campaign on Tuesday.

The Boss hosts Saudi Arabian giants Al Shabab in their Group B opener of the continental contest before their home fans at the Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium.

Al Ain, just like last season will need to deal with competing in multiple competitions both domestically and abroad.

Zlatko Dalic side felt the effect of competing on multiple fronts last season as they fell behind in their domestic title charge.

Gyan wants the team to brace themselves for the difficult period ahead in order for them to emerge victorious on all fronts.

“We know that we are facing a difficult period during the season which calls for work with all our strength to overcome the matches scheduled for Asia and domestic,” he said.

“The period from February to April will be difficult and we know this thing but it is important to be in a good position to performance which helps us to win.”

Al Ain are currently second in the Arabian Gulf League equal in points with leaders Al Jazira.
