Gomes: It was an easy decision
Marco Silva believes Andre Gomes shares his big ambitions for Everton after completing the permanent signing of the Portugal international.
Gomes, who spent last season on loan at Goodison Park, has penned a five-year contract with Everton after completing his £22million transfer from Barcelona.
A hamstring injury meant Gomes did not make his Everton debut until October 2018 in the 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace and he went on to make 29 appearances for the club last term.
Silva said: "Andre was a really important player for us last season and I think we were really able to help him, too. It was a good decision to bring Andre to the club and we made it one of our priorities to get him back.
"I know he shares the big ambitions that we have going forwards."
Meanwhile, Gomes says it was an easy decision to make his move to Merseyside permanent.
The 25-year-old said: "I'm really happy to sign the contract with Everton - it wasn't hard to decide, it was an easy decision and I'm very happy to have made it.
"I know the club made a massive effort to sign me and I'm very happy and thankful to them. I said during the year that I felt part of a family and that is the most important thing to me."
Everton are 7/2 to finish in the top six of the Premier League in the 2019/20 campaign and 7/4 to beat Crystal Palace on the opening weekend of the season.
