Ghanaian striker Patrick Twumasi ended his goal drought by scoring a brace for FC Astana in their 3-2 win over lower-division side Ekibastuz in the Kazakh Cup on Wednesday.
The league champions have now qualified to the quarter-finals.
Twumasi has struggled to replicate the form which ensured he won the league’s top scorer prize last season with 11 goals.
The 20-year-old is down the pecking order at his club and his last goal in a league match was early March.
Twumasi has managed just two goals in seven league appearances.
