Asamoah becomes the sixth foreigner to score in the 2014/15 NPFL.
The former Medeama forward scored his first goal to help former Nigerian champions Dolphins share the points in their Port Harcourt derby with Sharks at the Liberation Stadium.
Asamoah’s move to Dolphins has helped to continue the Ghanaian tradition at the Port Harcourt side.
Owusu Addae won the league with Dolphins in 2011, while James Amankwai and Seibu Abuu later joined him.
Amankwei joined him from defunct Nigerian side Juth FC, while Abuu came from Ghana.
Other Foreign Scorers
Before Asamoah, the quartet of Eric Frimpong (Bayelsa United), Pierre Coly and Ousmane Pape Sane (Senegal), Tamen Medrano (Sunshine Stars) as well as Saibou Badarou (Togo) have hit the back of the net.
On match day one, Frimpong gave his side the equaliser on match day one to prevent a home defeat after Lobi were one goal up and Senegalese defender Pierre Coly scored for Enugu Rangers, but FC Taraba eventually claimed all three points.
Coly’s compatriot, Ousmane Pape Sane, scored a brilliant goal against El-Kanemi Warriors on match day six to underscore his quality as a goalscoring defender.
Also on match day six, Cameroon’s Medrano helped Sunshine Stars to overcome the resistance of Wikki Tourists.
Medrano has since become one of the biggest foreign stars with two Best Foreigner Awards at the influential League Bloggers Award.
Frimpong scored his second this term on match day eight when his side played a 2-2 draw with Dolphins.
Togolese international Saibou Badarou found his scoring boots for the first time this term as Heartland hammered Bayelsa 4-1 on match day 10.
Badarou, who joined Heartland as GOtv Wafu Cup top scorer, made an instant impact on his arrival last term. However, the goals later disappeared as he experienced a goal drought and lost his place in the attack.
