Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Teye Partey won his first silverware with La Liga powerhouse after beating rivals Real Betis 3-0 to win the Carranza Trophy on Saturday.

The 22-year-old watched proceedings from Diego Simeone's bench but joined the rest of the squad for medals as the former La Liga title winners lined up for medals in their pre-season game before the start of the La Liga season.

Two 20-year-olds combined for Atletico's opener - Argentine defender Jose Gimenez heading home from an Oliver Torres corner in the 73rd minute before a cross in from Juanfran saw Jackson Martinez add a second in the 87th minute, and the result was assured for Atletico when second-half substitute Angel Correa was the second Argentine to score on the night.

Correa's goal - another header - finished off a cross in from former Chelsea defender Filipe Luis in the first minute of additional time to wrap up the victory.
