Ghanaian attacker Edwin Gyasi got his Eredivisie season to a brilliant start as he scored and assisted a goal to inspire newly-promoted Roda JC to a 3-1 triumph over Heracles Almelo on Saturday.

The 24-year-old netted to level the scoring for Roda in the 35th minute after Bel Hassani had put the visitors into the lead at the Parkstad Limburg Stadion.

Gyasi then made his experience from the top-flight count as he assisted Belgian international Tom van Hyfte to put Roda in the lead in the 48th minute.

Roda had fallen behind after the visitors took the lead but the exceptional attacking qualities of Gyasi ensured Roda came into the game strongly as they fought from a goal down to win the tie 3-1, recording an important win in the opening day of the Dutch season.
