Ghana’s assistant coach Maxwell Konadu insist his side is not underrating Equatorial Guinea ahead of their 2015 AFCON semi final clash.

The Black Stars face the tournament hosts in the final hurdle to have a chance of ending their African Cup title drought which spans over three decades.

Ghana have often choked at this stage of the competition – losing three of their last four AFCON semi final matches.

The team is however determined this time around to scale this hurdle and are not taking anything for granted as they come up against the tournament hosts who are widely considered to be underdogs for Thursday’s clash.

“We have to respect Equatorial Guinea for what they’ve done so far in the tournament,” Konadu said in his pre-match press conference.

“Many people didn’t give them this chance that they could get this far but I think they have done very well, they have worked hard for it. So I think they deserve to be here.

“But we have also done everything possible to be here so we just hope that tomorrow we get a very good match and try to entertain and to play to the best of our ability and make sure that African football becomes the winner at the end of the day.”

I am just worried about Equatorial Guinea at this point. We have to shake them early so that they get nervous. We cannot let them get comfortable.

IVC has just defeated DR Congo to reach the finals of AFCON which means we can avenge the defeat we suffered in 1992 if we beat EQ Guinea tomorrow.
