Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong was a relieved man after betting a staggering £50,000 on Floyd Mayweather to defeat Manny Pacquiao.

The 23-year-old, now playing his football in Russia, shared his delight on social media at taking home £78,600 after Mayweather prevailed at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Frimpong had tagged Mayweather in an Instagram post with the betting slip, warning the undefeated American ‘That’s my pension money player.’ Fortunately for the Ghanaian midfielder Money Man Mayweather was awarded the victory with scores of 118-110 and 116-112 twice.

Frimpong was evidently delighted as he posted on Twitter, ‘Bet big win big, some man ain't got balls, having told his followers, ‘Laughing straight to the bank with this.'

Straight after the fight Frimpong posted a video on social media of his celebrations where he claimed, 'I'm the new Money Floyd Mayweather' before blowing a kiss to the camera.

Having come through the Arsenal youth ranks, Frimpong represented England at Under 17 level before pledging his allegiences to the Ghana senior team.

Despite a promising start to his Gunners career, the midfielder failed to break through and become a first-team regular at the Emirates.

Following stints at Fulham, Wolves and Barnsley, Frimpong signed for newly-promoted Russian Premier League outfit FC Ufa in September 2014 in an attempt to resurrect his career abroad.

However Ufa are currently 12th in the Russian Premier League, 35 points off leaders Zenit St Petersburg, as they seek for survival in the top tier.
