Andre Ayew believes Ghana stands a good chance of progressing at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations despite Monday’s defeat to Senegal.

The Black Stars blew an early lead to succumb to a 2-1 defeat in their opening group game of the tournament being staged in Equatorial Guinea.

The disastrous result leaves Ghana in a desperate position as they now have to win their remaining group games to progress to the quarter finals.

But Andre Ayew wants the team to remain calm with his belief Group C will be ‘very open’.

“I believe this group is going to be very open so it is up to us to do a very good job on Friday to make it tough,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“It is true that when you start a tournament with a defeat you are not making things easy for yourself but this is what we’re going to see who Ghana is and what we can do.

“I want to tell Ghanaians that we’re also disappointed. We are sorry for this loss and we are going to do everything to bring victory to Ghana on Friday.”
