Gallagher return pleases Mowbray
Blackburn Rovers boss Tony Mowbray is hopeful that striker Sam Gallagher will help his side make progress in the Championship next season.
The 23-year-old, who spent the 2016/17 season on loan at Ewood Park, has joined Rovers on a permanent basis from Southampton, signing a four-year contract.
And Mowbray, who took charge at Blackburn midway through the previous stay of Gallagher, is looking forward to working with a player he clearly rates very highly.
He told his club's official website: "He probably hasn't played as much football as he would have liked over the last few years.
"I'm delighted he enjoyed his period of time here enough that when the choices came for him he wanted to come back.
"I'm just looking forward to seeing his raw strength and talent and ability on the pitch, which will hopefully help our team score some goals and win some games."
Gallagher scored 12 goals in 47 appearances for Blackburn three seasons ago, before spending the following campaign on loan at Birmingham City.
Last season he made a mere four Premier League appearances for Southampton, with a further two outings coming in the FA Cup and the League Cup.
Blackburn finished in 15th place in the Championship last season and are 10/1 to win promotion next season, while they are priced at 9/2 to finish in the top six.
