Fulham manager Alvaro Arbeloa fined £25,000 for referee comments
Fulham manager Alvaro Arbeloa has been fined £25,000 and warned by the Football Association (FA) over comments he made about the refereeing after his side’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United.
The match took place at Craven Cottage on 20 September.
An independent commission said Arbeloa’s remarks suggested officials had shown repeated bias during the game. It also found that his comments implied the possibility of deliberate action, including an attempt to compensate for an error made in another match.
Arbeloa admitted a charge of improper conduct, according to the commission’s published decision. The case was reported by the Independent.
The Spaniard is in his first season as Fulham manager after leaving Real Madrid.
Fulham are bottom of the Premier League table, with two points from their opening six matches.
