It is a week now after the draw for the Beach Soccer AFCON was done and there is no preparation in sight for the Super Sand Eagles for the tournament which kicks off in October.

The team had qualified after playing no match following the withdrawal of Libya. Hence, the return of the Sand Eagles after missing the last edition.

The situation bothers former Federal Capital Territory Football Association Chairman, Godwin Bamigboye who has asked for preparations to start as soon as possible if the team wants to perform at optimum.

"While I mourn the sudden demise of Caoch Wakali John, Proprietor of Waco Football Academy and Board Member, FCT Football Association and Co-ordinator, Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON), FCT chapter, I deem it necessary to ask the Nigeria Football Federation to utilise the window for the Beach Soccer Eagles to participate in AFCON Beach Soccer in Mozambique and also clinch them Beach Soccer World Cup ticket in Dubai in 2023.

"The AFCON is around the corner and the available window should be taken by inviting the Beach Soccer players and coaches who served under late Ciach Ejo to camp with immediate effect to take the team to AFCON. Let's not be distracted by the NFF elections" Bamigboye said.

The Super Sand Eagles are drawn in group in A alongside Morocco, Malawi and host Mozambique.

The tournament begins from 21st October to 28th October, 2022 in Mozambique.
