Flamingos' bronze medal win delight Gusau
Nigeria U-17 female team's win over Germany in the third place match of the U-17 Women's World Cup has brought happiness to the President of Nigeria Football Federation, Ibrahim Gusau.
The Flamingos got a sweet revenge over Germany who they had lost to in their first match of the competition, winning 3-2 on penalties after a 3-3 in regulation time.
President of the NFF, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, who has been with the team in India since the quarter-final stage was delighted with the triumph.
“This is a victory for the government and good people of Nigeria.
“The girls and their technical and administrative crew did very well to win something from this tournament and give Nigeria joy. I commend their determination and commitment to a noble goal.”

Flamingos became the first Nigerian female U-17 team to win a medal at the FIFA U17 WWC. It was also Africa’s second medal in the competition after Ghana’s bronze in 2012.
The Nigeria girls and coaching crew will arrive Nigeria on Tuesday following their historic feat in India.
