FIFA U-20 World Cup: Zubairu hails players' determination after Saudi Arabia win
Flying Eagles head coach Aliyu Zubairu has praised his players' determination following their 3-2 victory over Saudi Arabia in a thrilling Group F encounter at the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The West Africans trailed twice in the match but showed great resilience to secure the win, with Nasiru Salihu, Amos Ochoche, and captain Daniel Bameyi scoring the decisive goals.
Bameyi, who was instrumental in the victory, scored the winning penalty in stoppage time, earning him the Man of the Match award.
The win has significantly improved Nigeria's chances of advancing to the Round of 16.
"The players made up their minds that they had to go all out for the three points here, and that is what motivated them. Now it’s simple: we have to go all out for the three points against Colombia."
The Flying Eagles will face Colombia in their final group match on Monday, with a positive result likely to guarantee their progression to the knockout stage.
