Experienced Ghana midfielder Anthony Annan has returned to Norway to sign for Eliteserien title contenders Stabaek IF on a short-term contract, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively confirm.

The 29-year-old joins as a free agent after leaving German Bundesliga II side 1860 Munich at the end of last season.

Stabaek have acquired the former Schalke 04 to bolster their midfield as they seek to pile pressure on leaders Rosenborg BK at the summit of the table.

Annan has a contract till the end of the season.

Annan returns to the Nadderud Stadion after winning the Norwegian Eliteserien title with Stabaek as a loanee from IK Start in 2008.

The former Accra Hearts of Oak midfielder also won the league and Super Cup titles with Rosenborg BK during his spell at the club in 2010.

The journeyed Ghanaian international, who played at the 2010 FIFA World Cup for the Black Stars in South Africa, will be playing for his 10th club in eight (8) seasons.

He joins Ghanaian duo of Ernest Asante and Kamal Issah who both joined the club before the start of the Norwegian season.

Asante has been key for Stabaek's campaign after scoring 8 goals and providing ten assists and being rated better than Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale in the 2016 EA FIFA Sport Game.

Both Annan and Asante have history with IK Start and Stabaek. Annan has had spells iat Vitesse Arnhem, Osasuna, HJK Helsinki and German giants Schalke 04.
