One former Manchester City player has vowed to dance naked through the streets if Kevin De Bruyne doesn't end the 2017-18 campaign as PFA Player of the Year.

The Belgium midfielder maestro put in another pivotal shift in City's 7-2 hammering of Stoke on Saturday afternoon, providing two assists and a succession of exquisite passes as the hosts ran riot at the Etihad.

So impressive was De Bruyne's performance that former City midfielder Paul Lake felt compelled to make an outlandish gamble.

City outstanding. Playing the most entertaining football I think I've ever seen. And as for Our Kev, that lad sees things in HD... #mcfc

Indeed, if De Bruyne doesn't go on to be crowned the best player in the league, Lake and his wife Jo promised to "dance a naked conga" in a supermarket car park in their hometown of Stockport.

If Kevin De Bruyne doesn't win PFA Player of the Year Paul and I will do a naked conga around Kwik Save Stockport car park

Unfortunately, the Lakes' joint-wager was quickly scotched when it was pointed out to Jo that the Kwik Save in question was closed down over a decade ago.

STOP PRESS: The #KwikSaveConga was always a non-starter ???? Stockport branch closed 10 years ago. So you're all spared the gory spectacle ????????

Phew. The people of Stockport may have just dodged a collective bullet there.
