Essien's future in the balance as AC Milan star turns down offers
The future of AC Milan midfielder Michael Essien is still uncertain following his rejection of several contract offers.
Since news arrived that the Rossoneri have deemed the player surplus to requirements, Queens Park Rangers, West Bromwich Albion and FC Dallas have all shown an interest in the 32-year-old, however the player has turned down all three offers.
Tuttosport are reporting that the major stumbling block is Essien’s excessive wage demands.
The player is currently earning €3 million a year at the San Siro and it seems that unless someone is able to offer a contract of a similar, lucrative nature, it is unlikely that he will leave the club in January.
However, Essien’s agent has contradicted these claims and stated that the reason for his refusal was due to his loyalty to his former side Chelsea, saying: “Michael doesn’t want to play in the Premier League for a different side to his old club.”
