Dunkwa United Fc assistant trainer Sulley Mohammed, known in local football circles as Nyanu, has expressed the highest of optimisms that the Dunkwa-based Division One side would upset league giants Kumasi Asante Kotoko on Wednesday in an Elite Cup clash in Dunkwa-On-Offin.

Speaking to Solar Fm’s Hayford Abankwa from the club’s training base, the 48-year-old coach allayed any fears of being push-overs by Kotoko.

“We know the pedigree of Kotoko in Ghana and so we respect them for that. Notwithstanding, we held Kotoko to a one-all draw in Kumasi in a friendly and defeated them by 4-2 in the reverse fixture last season and so Kotoko know too well the stuff we are made of”, he bullishly asserted.

“We have trained and prepared well for this game even today and we are leaving no stone unturned. It appears a tall mountain to climb to the pessimist but our charges are motivated and determined to prove that our progress in this competition is not a fluke. We want to make an indelible mark in this novelty competition and so we are giving our teeming and enthusiastic fan base a befitting victory on Wednesday”, he stressed.

Dunkwa United last defeated Premier League side New Edubiase Fc 2-1 at the Nana Owusu Bori Park in Dunkwa-On-Offin in an Elite Cup match a fortnight ago.
