Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong is in PAOK pre-season team in Netherlands as preparation for next season takes new shape, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

PAOK’s Romanian football tactician Razvan Lucescu announced his squad list for the pre-season training camp which will hold in the Netherlands over the weekend with Ekong included, this debunking any news of injury concerns for the AFCON 2023 silver medal winning captain.

Troost-Ekong’s most recent competitive appearance for both club and country dates back to February 11, 2024, in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final against Ivory Coast.

He played through the pain barrier during the tournament in Ivory Coast and required surgery after returning to Europe following the Africa Cup of Nations, where he was named as Player of the Tournament.

While on Dutch soil, PAOK will face Cypriot team AEK Larnaca (July 3) and Scottish Premiership outfit Hibernian (July 6), before meetings with Belgian opponents Racing Genk (July 10) and Royale Union Saint-Gilloise (July 13).

In his first season at PAOK, Troost-Ekong appeared in twenty-two matches across all competitions, including twenty-one as a starter.

PAOK’s will start their new campaign against one of Borac Banja Luka or Egnatia Rrogozhinë in the Champions League qualifiers on July 27.
