Dele-Bashiru to Undergo Tests After Injury in Rome Derby
Super Eagles midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru will undergo medical tests to determine the extent of the injury he sustained during Lazio’s Serie A derby clash with AS Roma on Sunday, reports Nigeriasoccernet.com.
The 24-year-old started the Derby della Capitale under manager Maurizio Sarri but was forced off after just 14 minutes, with Reda Belahyane replacing him following a suspected thigh problem.
According to Il Messaggero via La Lazio Siamo Noi, Dele-Bashiru had already sat out Friday’s training with a muscle complaint, but was given late clearance by the technical staff to feature in the derby.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the Nigerian will now undergo scans to assess the severity of the issue. Should he be ruled out, Belahyane is expected to deputise in Lazio’s next league fixture against Genoa on Monday.
Sunday’s appearance was Dele-Bashiru’s fourth consecutive outing of the season, underlining his growing importance to Sarri’s side.
