Roberto D’Aversa’s Sampdoria team earned their first point of the 2021/22 Serie A season at the Mapei Stadium against Sassuolo, after a battling performance.

Speaking after the match, the Blucerchiati coach said it was important for the team to get off the mark before the international break.

“Getting there with no points in the league wouldn’t have been nice,” according to the coach.

He added: “If we analyse the three competitive matches we’ve played there are many positives.

“We did better in the first half than we did in the second today, but we had 48 hours less to prepare for the game, which was still enjoyable. We’ll take this result and move forward.”
