Zambia coach Honour Janza has praised his side’s reaction from a shock defeat to Namibia in the quarter-finals of the Cosafa Cup to come back and thrash invited guests Ghana.

Chipolopolo booked a place in the plate final by beating Ghana 3-0 with all the goals coming in the first half.

They will contest the plate against Malawi who got the better of Bafana Bafana in penalties with a 5-4 victory after the match finished goalless.

The plate final will offer the Zambians some solace knowing that they will return home without the Cosafa Cup having been bundled out of contention by Namibia at Moruleng Stadium.

“What is important for every coach and every team is to get positive results,” Janza said.

“I know that we are coming from a painful situation. It’s not good to cry over spilt milk but we had to see what we have to with the other assignments coming up. I am happy that the players reacted positively. For a long time we haven’t scored many goals, it was good that we did it and gives good motivation for the players.

“When they do it, instead of you telling them what they are capable of, their confidence grows. Going forward this is a good result. We failed to defend the Cosafa Cup but we will use this next match to prepare for Chan and the Afcon qualifiers.”
