Rangers manager Philippe Clement praised Cyriel Dessers after his late equalizer secured a draw against Dynamo Kiev in the UEFA Champions League, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Dessers' stoppage-time strike cancelled out Yarmolenko's opener.

Clement, in his post match reaction commended the Nigerian forward while he unashamedly backed his player, correcting the wrong perception about Dessers’ proficiency as a striker.

“Cyril kept pushing on to get the goal because he had a few chances that he finished very well and the goalkeeper saved well.

" So he kept on believing and I'm happy for him that he scored the goal.

" If you compare him with seven months ago he does much more things good for the team.

" Maybe people have a perception about him, but I know there are no defenders anymore who like to play against him, and he's only growing, so that's what we want,” Clement told BBC.

The result sets up a thrilling second leg, with Rangers aiming to build on this momentum.
