A goal from Emmanuel Dennis gave Watford's interim head coach Tom Cleverley the perfect start to his tenure at St Andrew's as all three points were secured against Birmingham City, Nigeriasoccernet.com writes.

Just before halftime, Dennis took advantage of a defensive blunder to give the Hornets their first Sky Bet Championship triumph in five tries.

Despite sustained periods of pressure from struggling Birmingham, the visitor defense was skillfully marshaled and held firm, delivering the new manager a crucial victory in his first game in command.

The move may have given Cleverley's team some encouragement as another Nigerian prodigy Tom Dele-Bashiru bent a shot over the top before Dennis assisted on Ryan Andrews' cross and missed.

Bachmann made a great save to deny an Emanuel Aiwu header from a Miyoshi corner just as halftime was about to end. A minute later, the Hornets seized the lead when the same guy was caught sleeping at the defense.

As the Blues player hesitated in the danger area, Dennis took full advantage of the situation to take him out and hammer a finish past John Ruddy, the only goal of the game to give his side all three points.
