Burundi have thrown open the gates for this afternoon’s U20 AFCON qualifier as they aim to upset favourites Nigeria’s Flying Eagles in front of their home fans.

Kick-off for today’s clash is 2pm Nigerian time on the artificial pitch of the Prince Louis Rwagasore Stadium in Bujumbura.

The host team, the Young Swallows, will also hope that besides total home support, the high altitude will work against a team who last year won the FIFA U17 World Cup in style.

Both teams did not kick a ball to reach the second round of the U20 AFCON qualifiers after Burundi walked over DR Congo and defending champions Nigeria drew bye.

The reverse fixture will be played next month in the southern coastal town of Calabar with the overall winners squaring up against Sudan for a place in the tournament proper to be staged by Zambia next year.
