Taiwo Awoniyi, ex-Liverpool striker, scored his sixth goal in all competitions this season as Union Berlin defeated Borussia Moenchengladbach 2-1 at home.

The 24-year-old has scored in all three of Union's Bundesliga games this season and is relishing the opportunity to play with Germany striker Max Kruse.

"I'm feeling fantastic, but the most important thing is the team," said Awoniyi, who has scored in all three of Union's games so far. Union recorded a 1-1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen before losing 2-2 at Hoffenheim.

With the win over Gladbach, Union, which is in its third season in Germany's top division, extended its undefeated home record in the Bundesliga to 18 games.

Awoniyi also discussed his time at the same club as Kruse:
"In the game, he has a lot of experience. When he has the ball, he understands exactly what he wants to accomplish "Awoniyi remarked. "Once you start playing with him, he knows where you are, and you know where he is, and I believe this has helped me learn a lot... it's wonderful for both of us right now."
