Bruce vows to keep Longstaff
Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce says that Manchester United target Sean Longstaff is not for sale.
The 21-year-old has been the subject of speculation throughout the summer with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer thought to be keen on taking him to Old Trafford.
However, with Newcastle owner Mike Ashley having already stated that the player is not for sale this summer, new manager Bruce has said that he too wants to see the midfielder remain at St James' Park.
He said: "You never want to lose your best young players, and I think we've made it pretty evident that we won't.

"We're concentrating on Sean now, getting his knee right. It's his 10th or 11th training session since he hurt his knee. I'll just repeat what the owner said – he's not for sale."
Longstaff has only made 11 appearances for Newcastle, all coming last season though his campaign ended in March after a knee ligament injury.
Meanwhile, as Newcastle continue preparations for the new season, Bruce was in the dugout for the first time in the side's 2-1 defeat away at Preston.
The new boss watched from the stand as his new team beat Wolves in Shanghai last week, but back in the UK saw Jonjo Shelvey open the scoring at Deepdale only for two second half penalties to hand Preston the win.
Afterwards Bruce said there were positives to take from the defeat including the debut of record signing Joelinton.
He said: "Awful conditions and I don't think I have played a game in the middle of July like this, the pitch wasn't far off being waterlogged.
"I think he (Joelinton) will be a big hit. Full of life and energy, he plays with his heart on his sleeve. He is not a typical Brazilian with silky skills but will be an effective number nine."
Newcastle conclude their pre-season with games against Hibernian and Saint-Etienne before getting the new Premier League season underway at home to Arsenal on 11th August.
Bruce is 14/5 to get a win in his first competitive match in charge with the Gunners 19/20 and the draw 5/2.
Newcastle are 1/7 to finish in the bottom half of the Premier League and they are 9/4 to be relegated.
