Fit-again goalkeeper Claudio Bravo is eager to make his mark for Manchester City, having finally recovered from a long-term Achilles tendon injury.
The 36-year-old Chile international is set to feature for the Citizens on Sunday in the Community Shield clash with Liverpool, having not played since the same fixture last season - which saw City defeat Chelsea 2-0 at Wembley.
I want to contribute to the team.
Claudio Bravo
Bravo told his club's official website: "Personally, I was very unlucky to suffer an injury that kept me off the pitch for a long period.
"Those complex injuries are tough because they require a long recovery period to get back to full fitness. I was fully aware that I needed to recover as best as possible.
"The only way to do that was through all the hours and the effort I put in, to be able not to feel any pain or discomfort and get back to normal condition.
"I want to contribute to the team. I'm a very competitive person and I always set high expectations for myself."
Citizens head coach Pep Guardiola added his own praise for Bravo, with the Spaniard aware of just how difficult it is to recover from a serious injury later on in your career.
He added: "I am really impressed. It's not easy at 33, 34 after one year out. He's been good, really good.
"It was one year out and it took time to recover. He started training towards the end of last season. Now he is fit and he will be ready."
City are priced at 8/15 to lift the Community Shield, while they are 9/1 to win 2-0 in normal time and 2/1 to keep a clean sheet.
