Turning 22 on August 13, Spanish U21 international midfielder Riqui Puig is now apparently meant to stay put, not even for an experience-gaining loan spell. According to Sport, Barcelona FC management, which turned down two clubs aiming at signing him during last winter window, are in fact planning to make Puig's deal extension worth, signed last January, on a deadline set at June 2023, by keeping the 1999-born playmaker put into their ranks, and render him part of their 2021/22 masterplan.
Collecting 39 official caps from 2018/19 on, and scoring one goal in the process, Riqui Puig was approached by a bunch of La Liga clubs, including Real Betis Sevilla, Getafe, and Valencia. Increasingly gaining a position in Blaugrana first team, Puig was inquired about by Bundesliga and Premier League middlemen, as well as having turned into a Fiorentina mild target.
