The 23-year-old struggled for regular first team action in his season-long loan deal at Chelsea.

Atsu could only manage five appearances in the Premier League for Everton – owing his limited opportunities to injuries and poor form.

The Ghana international is thanking the entire Everton for his time at Goodison Park admitted his loan stint didn’t go as planned.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at Everton for making me feel welcome during my time there this season.

“The fans, the staff, my teammates have all been very supportive. I'm sorry that things didn't work out for me but I must look forward and am keen to take the next step in my football career. God bless everyone.”

Atsu will now be reverting to Chelsea but is certain to leave Stamford Bridge once more again this summer.

Newly promoted Bournemouth have been linked to the Ghana winger.
