Ashantigold will reward coach Bashir Hayford with a mouth-watering contract extension, the club has confirmed.

The miners have been on cloud this season where they are inching closer to their first Premier League crown in 20-years.

The Obuasi-based are sitting comfortable at the top of the table, seven clear points of second-placed Berekum Chelsea with 9 games to spare.

Hayford, a former coach of Asante Kotoko and Medeama, has been largely credited for transforming the side since he took over two years ago.

And chief executive Kudjoe Fianoo has confirmed a new deal is in place for the experienced trainer.

“We want to extend the contract of coach Bash. He has done tremendously well and we’re delighted with his work,” he said

“Negotiations have started and we hope to tie him down sooner rather than later.

“He has brought on new faces from the academy and that excite us a lot. We are pleased with his work ethics.

Hayford joined Ashantigold after leaving Medeama in 2013.
