Chelsea have confirmed that 18-year-old midfielder Ashanti Akpan will spend the 2024/25 season on loan at Birmingham City in the Women's Championship, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Akpan, who has been with Chelsea since the age of seven, has enjoyed significant success with the Academy, including winning the FA Youth Cup and FA WSL Academy Cup.

She made her senior debut in March 2023, coming off the bench in a 3-1 FA Cup quarter-final win over Reading.

Born in Warsaw to a Nigerian father and a Polish mother, the young midfielder has represented England at various youth levels, including the recent U19 European Championships in Lithuania, where the team reached the semi-finals.
