Arsenal maintain interest in Nicolas Paz after Como make midfielder permanent

Arsenal are continuing to monitor Como midfielder Nicolas Paz and could make the 21-year-old a transfer target next year.

The Gunners considered signing the Argentina international during the previous summer transfer window, but Paz opted to remain in Italy after Como completed a permanent deal for the player. The Serie A club paid €60m to acquire all of his rights from Real Madrid.

According to BBC information, Arsenal’s interest in Paz has not diminished despite Como’s sizeable investment. The London club are expected to keep following his progress before deciding whether to pursue a move next year.

Paz is under contract with Como until 2028, meaning any attempt to sign him would require Arsenal to negotiate with the Italian club. Transfermarkt currently estimates the midfielder’s value at €80m, a figure above the €60m Como paid to secure his full registration from Real Madrid.

The deal brought an end to Paz’s association with Real Madrid, where he developed through the club’s academy. His decision to stay in Italy last summer meant Arsenal did not complete a move at that stage, but the English club have retained an interest in the player.

Arsenal invested more than €200m on new signings during the summer transfer window. Their continued tracking of Paz indicates the midfielder remains under consideration as part of the club’s longer-term recruitment plans.

No transfer has been agreed between Arsenal and Como, and Paz remains contracted to the Italian side. However, his age, contract length and current valuation will all be relevant factors should the Gunners decide to revive their interest.

For now, Como retain control of the situation after securing Paz on a deal that runs through 2028. Arsenal’s next step will be to continue assessing the player before determining whether to make a formal approach.
