Arsenal Forward Lucas Perez Hits Out at the Reading Player Who's Left Him Sidelined for 2 Months
"?Arsenal forward Lucas Perez is not at all happy with the challenge which threatens to leave him sidelined for two months, and understandably so.
The Spaniard, who only just joined the club from Deportivo La Coruna this summer, hobbled off the pitch after getting on the end of a nasty tackle from Danzell Gravenberch during an EFL Cup match against Reading late last month.
Lucas aims to be back as soon as possible, but believes that he was hurt on purpose.
"The injury is a shame, but we have to fight," he said to Marca (H/T the "?Mirror).
"I didn't understand where the player was going with the tackle, but these are just occupational hazards."?
Arsene Wenger echoed the player's sentiment, and branded the tackle 'a stupid one.'
"He's absolutely gutted because it's an injury coming from nowhere and a stupid one.
"It was a kick, a deliberate kick. It was not needed."
In lighter news, Perez has opened up on his thoughts regarding Arsenal's history. The attacker has named Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, Jose Reyes, Robert Pires and Patrick Vieira as players he had lots of admiration for.
"Well, obviously everyone knows about Arsenal's legendary players such as Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp," he remarked.
"I really admired Jose Reyes, who's a fellow Spaniard. Robert Pires and Patrick Vieira too.
"That was a wonderful time for Arsenal and everyone knows all those players. People know all about them in Spain and that history of having legends at the club is part of the reason Arsenal are so popular."
