Arsenal Block Leeds United's Deadline Day Move for Striker Yaya Sanogo
"?Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger reportedly blocked Leeds United's attempt to bring French striker Yaya Sanogo to Elland Road on a loan deal, according to "?the Sun.
The striker moved to Arsenal from Auxerre in France back in 2013, and has struggled for form since his move to the Emirates.
He helped the club win the FA Cup in May 2014, but has only made 11 Premier League appearances during three years with the Gunners.
The 23-year-old has spent the majority of his time at Arsenal on loan, with spells at Crystal Palace, Charlton Athletic and Ajax in Holland and it was thought that Leeds United boss Garry Monk was keen to bring the striker to Elland Road on a loan deal.
However, the Sun reports that the Arsenal blocked the French under-21 striker's move to the Championship.
It is thought that manager Arsene Wenger is hoping to put Sanogo to use at the Emirates as an alternative option to Olivier Giroud and new signing Lucas Perez
Giroud is still yet to return to full fitness following his exploits with France at Euro 2016, while Perez could take time to adapt to the Premier League following his £17m move from Deportivo La Coruna.
Arsenal have had a mixed start to the new Premier League campaign, with an opening day loss to Liverpool. They followed that up with a goalless draw against Premier League champions Leicester City, and then managed to secure their first win of the new season with a convincing 3-1 win away to Watford. Their next match sees them welcome Southampton to the Emirates.
